HOWTOPLAYLAX.COM powered by ICON LACROSSE is a free informational sight for all lacrosse players (men, women, boys, and girls, from beginners to intermediate and advanced players) on everything they would want to know on how to play lacrosse and become the best player they can be. We created this site as a combination of books, articles, videos, talks, camps, clinics, and lectures...all wrapped into one monster resource for everything you want to know about how to play and coach lacrosse. This is just the start and if there is something you want to see or learn more about, just let us know and we will find a way to get it up here. Also, if you want to learn more, please go to our VIDEOS section and peruse our DVD library. We will be posting new articles and information on a regular basis, so please be sure to keep checking back with us. My name is Trevor Tierney and I will be your personal guide, coach, mentor and trainer throughout this site. I am excited to work with you and help you reach your full potential as a lacrosse player. Along with my good friend Josh Sims, we want to try to help you with everything there is to know about participating in the game of lacrosse. Josh and I have been around the game of lacrosse our entire lives and we were lucky enough to be surrounded by great teammates, coaches and family members who helped us to become very successful in the sport that we loved. I was a two-time Team USA National Team goalie, four-time MLL All-Star, a two-time All-American at Princeton University and I am now the defensive coordinator for the MLL Denver Outlaws. My colleague, Josh Sims is considered to be one of the best midfielders of all time as he was a three-time All-American at Princeton University and a perennial all-star in both the MLL and NLL professional leagues. So...let’s get started in making you a better lax player! This site has a ton of information on it and we are going to add more writings, more videos, more of everything else on a consistent basis. We want this site to become the most all-inclusive lacrosse teaching site available. This site is mainly geared towards players, coaches, parents and fans looking to learn more about lacrossse. Continue below to see how to navigate this site most effectively.

BOYS / MENS PLAYER : If you are a beginner player, then start out by checking out our BEGINNER LACROSSE section to learn all the skills that you need to start playing! If you are more of an advanced player, then please check out our ADVANCED LACROSSE section to help you become the best player that you can be! You will also help yourself to become a smarter and more savvy lacrosse player by reading the TEAM CONCEPTS page. Once you have read everything on this site, then you might want to check out our LACROSSE VIDEOS, which you can buy directly off this site. We also have a section on LACROSSE GEAR where you can find information on equipment and apparel. If you are an elite level player who wants to learn more about training for lacrosse, then the LACROSSE TRAINING section is for you. Finally, if you are hoping to play in college and want to learn more about the recruitment process, then check out our helpful RECRUITING ADVICE pages.

GIRLS / WOMENS PLAYER : If you are a girls player, we are putting together an outstanding section together for you in our GIRLS LACROSSE pages, utilizing some of the best players and coaches in the game! Also, do not hesitate to check out all of the other sections on this website. Some great teams and players are taught by men’s players in lacrosse, most notably, Gary Gait, the head lacrosse coach at Syracuse University. You may be able to work in some of the tips and techniques that we teach boys into your own game!

COACHES : For you coaches out there, we understand that you may already know a lot about the game. But, like anything else, it’s always good to keep your mind open and see if you can pick up a few things here and there from others. That’s how the top coaches in the game keep making their teams better and better. Really, for you coaches, any of the sections on our site, especially BEGINNER LACROSSE, ADVANCED LACROSSE, TEAM CONCEPTS and LACROSSE VIDEOS would be best for you. Although in some of these sections we are speaking to the player, we also spend a lot of time throwing out drills, tips and strategies for coaches to employ throughout their season. Josh and I have been working with youth and high school teams for several years now as coaches and we believe that we have developed a great system to raise excellent lacrosse players. Check it all out and see what you think!

PARENTS : This whole site is for you to learn more about the sport that your son or daughter loves! Not to mention, this is a great way for you to learn how to pick up a stick if you have never done so before, and spend some quality time with your child doing something that can be a huge positive impact on their lives!
